A Dose of (capsule) Las Vegas: Warriors of Radness

Capsule, Men's Brands, TradeShows No Comments

Picture10 Warriors of Radness has made quite an impact since arriving on the scene with its California surf-inspired clothing.  For AW10, showing next week at (capsule) Vegas, 80’s references abound, from pop art inspired t-shirts to technicolor drawstring pants and nylon shorts.  There are plenty of outerwear options, as well, including chambray pullovers in blue and black with contrasting neon liners, and a mid-thigh length hooded beach parka.  Catch WOR at (capsule) Vegas from February 16-17, and see some more from the collection below. Shipley & Halmos AW10 Collection

Men's Brands, News No Comments

Picture8Last week, we had the pleasure of visiting the Shipley & Halmos showroom for a sneak peek at the label’s AW10 collection.  Designers Sam Shipley (left, with a women’s AW10 coat) and Jeff Halmos have created a fall collection made for layering.  Men’s pieces like a cashmere wool car coat and a reinterpreted take on the ubiquitous varsity jacket are functional and versatile enough to be mixed and matched with knitwear and woven shirting from the collection.  Throw in cotton henleys, a denim jacket and some loose-fitting tees in pink and blue, and you have a feel for the relaxed, lived-in flavor this collection adds to the more polished Shipley & Halmos aesthetic.  Click below for more highlights from the label’s lookbook, as well as some words of wisdom courtesy of an S&H-branded fortune cookie.  (Steve Dool)

A Dose of (capsule) Vegas: Cole, Rood & Haan

COMPASS, Capsule, FOOTWEAR, Men's Brands, News No Comments

Picture1

For Fall 2010 Cole, Rood & Haan Co. was inspired by the American Military in World War 1, with groups names for the Officers, the Infantry and the Cavalry. Taking inspiration from the constructions that made military boots and shoes last, the leathers that got better with age, and those shoes you wish your great-grandfather had kept,  CRH uses the best Italian leathers, top level constructions and pay attention  to every detail. See the collection at (capsule) Vegas. More pics after the jump.

A Dose of (capsule) Las Vegas: Krane

Capsule, Men's Brands, News, TradeShows No Comments

Picture6Fall marks the first season Canadian label Krane has unveiled a complete menswear line, an extension of the brand’s popular bag collection.  Krane founder and designer Ken Chow continues to riff on the military themes that provided the foundation for his bag line, seen here in the crisp lines and sharp tailoring of his wool peacoats and waxed cotton trousers.  Subtle references to both biker culture with studded leather belts and the mod movement in slim-cut buttondowns lend some versatility and added layers to the muted palette of mostly blacks and grays.  Krane will be returning to (capsule) this season, this time at the Venetian in Las Vegas.  See more looks, including some of this season’s bags, below.  (Steve Dool)

Paris Runway: Tim Hamilton AW2010

Men's Brands, News, RUNWAY No Comments

tim1Tim Hamilton Fall 2010: The kind of threads you might throw on if you’re heading to a Depeche Mode show: stage-worthy leather jeans, tarred combat boots, a pitch-perfect black wool-and-leather baseball jacket, and the kind of hooded rain slicker/parka that just about everyone is making this season. And then there are the slim-but-boxy three-button suits, more German techno than world-famous rock star.(GQ)
